Welcome to the Global Scholars Club
Real stories and lessons from 100+ students who’ve taken their education around the world.
Welcome :)
Hi! I’m Billy. I grew up in regional Tasmania, a beautiful part of the world that also made it clear early on how uneven access to educational opportunities can be.
That reality shaped everything. I built a tutoring company to help close learning gaps in my community, launched a mentoring program for disadvantaged students, and eventually became a Rhodes Scholar-elect. None of that would’ve happened without the right people, the right guidance, and just enough awareness to believe it was possible.
And that’s why I’m here.

1. Why this, why now
The Global Scholars Club was born from a simple goal: to make global opportunities less mysterious and more accessible. Every year, students miss out on scholarships, exchanges, and leadership programs not because they’re not talented enough, but because they never heard about them, didn’t think they’d be eligible, or didn’t have someone to guide them through it.
Over the past month, I’ve spoken to 100+ young people who have accessed these experiences. Together, they’ve received more than $6 million in funding across almost 50 unique global opportunities, from the New Colombo Plan and Westpac to Rhodes and Monash.
The stories they’ve shared are generous, insightful, and often a bit chaotic, which makes them powerful.
Now I want to pass them on to you.
2. What kind of community is this?
This isn’t just a newsletter. It’s a community of people who believe opportunity should not be a privilege of circumstance.
Whether you're applying for your first scholarship, planning a semester abroad, or just exploring what’s possible, I want this to be a space where you feel seen, supported, and one step closer to your next leap.
You’ll hear directly from scholars around the world. Some are still studying, others are now working in policy, business, education, and global development. All of them want to help the next wave.
